Escuela Integrada de Niños Trabajadores started 20 years ago in Antigua, Guatemala, for children living in poverty. The name in English means “Integrated School for the Working Children.” Escuela Integrada started as a school to serve children who were working on the streets and to offer them accessible education. The school provides both breakfast and lunch five days per week for the students, as well as counseling, case-by-case benevolent care, and extracurricular classes not required by the public education system. The school serves nearly 200 students from Kindergarten through Junior high as well providing scholarships to High School students. The middle school children receive workshops weekly by a program called SERniña, which focuses on issues of gender inequality in Guatemala. Along with this, the children receive physical education classes each week, computer classes, and English and Mayan language classes. The school is managed and run 100 percent by Guatemalans. GRACES, by partnering with churches and organizations, sends Vision Trips to Escuela Integrada to provide supplemented support for the school and the families—providing food bags, wood burning stoves, hosting family nights and more. GRACES is a U.S based non-profit based in Salisbury, NC that supports and funds educational projects in Guatemala- primarily Escuela Integrada.

GRACES Meal Support Program provides breakfast, lunch and food bags for the students of Escuela Integrada and their families.
In Guatemala, a basic food bag, which can feed a family of four for a month costs approximately $115. The families GRACES serves make, on average, $297 per month for their total family income. With the cost of rent, healthcare, transportation, and other household expenses, you can imagine how the cost of food can weigh heavy on the families we serve.
Guatemala has the 2nd highest rate of moderate or severe food insecurity in Latin America.
The projected cost for GRACES’ Meal Support Program in 2025 is $94,100. One hundred percent of funds raised for this program will go directly to keeping the children fed.
Please consider partnering with GRACES to ensure that the students GRACES serves do not go hungry.
